"Rough"
I took this photo in the summer of 2010.
This log was tossed in a back yard and to me its beauty had a life own. It told a story.
It reminds me of my life. At times I feel insignificant, tossed away and unimportant. But one day someone will find the beauty in me and notice my potential. Hopefully one day really soon.

2dashtone and Audio Games had a show on Thursday night. They did amazing! I took a pic of Kevin during the show but because of zoom and crappy lighting the photo wasnt the best.
Photoshop came calling and his partner, 2dashtone, urged me to create something for him.
This is the result. Hope you like it Kev!

The process of fetal development fascinates me. Life in the womb is remarkable and a lot of what makes us who we are starts as early as in the womb.
My "During Pregnancy" piece is an ongoing project. I feel like it has the potential to be a huge project. Check out more at https://sites.google.com/site/janelebryan/dream-pegnacy

to my Daddy
My father and I have a love for photography, so decided to incorporated it into this piece. The background is a photograph that we took in summer 2010. I changed the colors of the photo in order to give it a softer feel.
This piece reminds me of home; the calm feel of a sunset and the memories of me and my father always trying to capture the visuals through photographs.

I was going through an emotional week and the idea of the human heart was constantly on my mind. People speak of the heart as an emotional element and sometimes forget that its an organ.
The heart is a simple but vital part of the human body. We know how it works, but what drives the heart to beat (both emotionally and physically)?
This drawing shows the heart surrounded by water.
As an emotional woman, I find myself crying a lot. My heart is surrounded by tears at least 2 times per week so I wanted to place my feelings and thoughts on paper. This is the outcome.
Hope you like it and are able to relate.

Cluster
On Tuesday January 12, 2010 at 4:53pm an earthquake hit Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The response of people trying to help was overwhelming and countries from all over the world gave assistance in their time of need. Millions of dollars have been raised and many organizations, as well as volunteers went to Haiti.
The pain and grief as a result of the earthquake was immense; for some the affect was felt in minutes, for others it came later. Regardless, at some point or another the world felt the despair of Port-au-Prince. Thinking about the devastation deeply saddened me. The fact that this happened in a country so similar and so close to my home brought me to tears. Images constantly being shown in the media intensified the pain. We felt tremors right after the quake. It could have easily happened to me.
In spite of compassion, I did not hesitate to donate all the money I could afford to the relief effort. Jamaica and I must have been touched in the same way, because they also gave all they could; a true act of kinship considering that by definition we are also a 3rd world country.
Clay is a natural element found in the earth. After it has been molded to its intended shape it is then put under fervent pressure of a kiln, which has a maximum temperature of 1892 ° F. This process makes the clay permanent and indestructible by nature. Haiti, a severely underdeveloped country, was put under tremendous pressure by the recent quake. In the future, hopefully like clay after the kiln, Haiti will be stronger and more prepared for whatever comes their way.
Cluster signifies the togetherness, the grief, the pain, the tears and the images of Haiti. It embodies the reality that we are all stuck together no mater what happens; one globe, one planet, one people. Out of Many On People; the motto of Jamaica, my homeland and also a neighbor of Haiti sums up the meaning of Cluster. Just like my artwork, where the group of individual pieces form a whole, it should remind us that as human beings we are all part of the same.

These drawing are the building blocks of my drawing career. I was always fascinated with the idea of drawing people and never really got the hang of it and never thought I would.
All these pictures show my mistakes, challenges and progress.
Its no fun for me to look at them now because the mess-ups seem so obvious.
I remember my freshman year walking into my first drawing class. Two things kept ringing in my head, "I wonder how well everyone here draws" and "I can bet they are way better than me."
I was nervous.
My teacher's name was Mike Long. At first we all thought he was just another student waiting for the class to begin. He introduced himself and my journey began there.
All these drawing were done between Fall 06 and Spring 08. (They are in no particular order.)
